Conk. Alias David Vaughan saw a big change in 1996. He was one of 120 Clown delegates to attend a 4-day Clowns Festival in Southport.

It was his first festival. The event was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Clowns- International which is the oldest established organization for Clowns in the world.

Clowns-International Honorary Vice-President Sir Norman Wisdom officially opened the proceedings which included Al Fresco performances, special workshops, a grand street parade through the centre of Southport and a Gala show. Clowns attended the festival from as far away as Portugal and America as well as coming from all over the UK.

It was during one of the clown workshops that David decided on a new look for Conk which changed his life. (Clowns face’s are duly registered on Egg’s and are now displayed at Wookey Hole in Wells Somerset).
